The County of Sør-Trøndelag organised their SMART Europe peer review between the 11th and 15th of February 2013. The peer group was composed by experts from Manchester (UK), Debrecen (HU), Avila (ES) and Tampere (FI).

The focus of the Peer Review was on strengthening R&D based development of competence, value creation and innovation.

First of all, some representatives of the host region gave an introduction of Sør-Trøndelag and its innovation environment. Through the presentations and interviews scheduled during the week the reviewers could meet the most important stakeholders in the area, such as SINTEF, NAV, Innovation Norway, NTNU, Chambers of Commerce and other business organisations. The reviewers also had the possibility to spend a day in Røros, a small town in the county, visiting the local “business gardens” and companies before returning back to the capital Trondheim.

After having spent a week analysing the situation in the region, the peer review team finally presented their first observations and recommendations to Sør-Trøndelag's.
